For the first time in almost a year, I’ve put the pads back on. And I am SORE.

Football is a physical game. And it gets even more physical when everyone is doing their best to make the team.

I’m so excited to get the pads back on and play again. But playing football is hard. I’m sore every morning and tired every night, but regardless I have to perform at the highest level every afternoon.

Seems a little oxymoronic to me, but that’s the nature of the game. As a player I have to be mentally tough enough to withstand the sprained thumbs, jammed wrists, and bruised shoulders that are mainstays in training camp. I just have to fight through it. In my experience, the first few days of training camp are always like this… but honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.

This is exactly what I signed up for. This is exactly what I’ve been missing for the last 11 months. My life doesn’t revolve around football, but it is a huge passion of mine, and I’m so happy to get the chance to pursue that passion again. It’s why I do what I do.

And now, it’s about time for practice. So until next time…
